Motivation Tip – Take A Vacation At Least Once A Year

It is easy to get caught up in the distractions of our regular lives and get caught up with all the day to day mundane activities that we go through regularly. I would urge everybody to take a vacation at least once a year at the minimum. It helps you get out of your own bubble and back on track to what is truly important for you. You get to step back for a moment, unwind, and gain clarity.

A vacation is a great time to rejuvenate, especially, if you are in a very stressful position or if you are someone that works excessively. It is easy to get caught up with day to day activities and lose sight of the “big picture”. Things like your vision, dreams and your goals that you set up at the beginning of the year can get side-tracked.

Go on An Adventure

It is  great to go explore, discover, and reawaken your “inner child”. When you are used to working over 40+ hours a week, it can seem as though life is all about work. Once your away and you have “all the time in the world”, you re-learn how to have fun and make life enjoyable. In this mind-state, when you return to work, it is typically more vitalizing and makes you more determined to hit your targets so you can on the next adventure.

Gain A Different Perspective

Being in a new environment can help you revitalize your purpose, your vision, and your goals as it helps you to get out your daily routine. It allows you to analyze your situation from a different perspective. Also, being in a new location exposes you to new ideas, behaviors and people. It can change the way you approach tasks and activates more of your creative facilities. There is more than one way to tackle a challenge or situation.

Reward Yourself

Vacations are not always a set back to what you are working towards. If you are getting some rest and you are not taking too much time off, it can actually help catapult you forward or help you stay on the right track. I aim to go on a vacation every 3-4 months. Vacations for me are a reward for working hard and going closer to my goals. Celebrating your successes are important as it helps motivate you to achieve your next targets.

Vacation Is a Mindset

It all about taking some time for yourself. Even if, you cannot afford a vacation at the moment, consider taking a full weekend off, with no professional or personal work. Or you can even take just a little road trip just down to neighboring city.

The main purpose is to break your regular day to day routine, not always completely, but even small escapes throughout the day filled with new activities or people can make you feel like you are on “a vacation”. Break your regular patterns and rediscover new things, try new things, and even learn new things.
